Tulane Begins Inquiry into
Retracted Research

The Washington Post (August 17, 1997)

According to a report in The Washington Post, Tulane University has begun an investigation to "assure that proper laboratory practices were followed" with respect to the recently retracted study on environmental estrogens.

"University researchers would not respond directly to the question whether scientific fraud had been committed," the Post article said.

Congratulations to The Washington Post for finally printing news of the retraction. After all, the retraction occurred only weeks ago. Of course, the Post wasted no time in printing its article on the original research. The study was published in Science magazine on June 7, 1996 and the Post covered the study that same day.

And for those looking ahead, here is tomorrow's better-late-than-never Post headline:

Newton Says "What Goes Up Must Come Down"

Funny how gravity and junk science have so much in common!
