Sky isn't falling

I have just finished reading a Dec. 22 letter by Nancy Wilson concerning global warming.

In it, she states several factual statistics such as "The 10 warmest years have occurred since 1980," and "Every month this year has been the warmest on record. "

What she fails to fully understand is the fact that we are dealing with weather statistics for only the past 100 years.  The Earth is estimated at 6 billion plus years old, yet these "global warming" alarmists want us to jump into a black hole of spending to fix a problem we are not even sure we are causing.

Other statistics seem to come from thin air, which is a common occurrence for liberals with a cause.  Statements such as, "The three warmest years in the past six centuries have occurred since 1990. " There is simply no basis in fact for this statement.  Nor for the following: "Estimates of economic losses as a result of continued global warming reach as high as $ 400 billion per year.  Add to this the loss of lives, species and ecosystems. "

Four hundred billion?  From what patch of sky did this figure fall from?  The loss of life?  Really?  What prompted this misstatement?

Perhaps the common liberal practice of pulling facts out of thin air to panic the populace with visions of doom if they are not listened to.

While no one would deny that the last 20 years have been the warmest on record for the past 100 years, there is simply no credible evidence that man is causing it.  It could very well be, as some scientists who are not paid by the global warming lobbyists are saying, that this is a natural phenomenon.

It is time that we quit listening to these "Chicken Little" alarmists telling us the sky is falling.  We should make decisions that greatly affect the lives of every American based on factual information.

Remember, these are the same "Chicken Littles" who told us that a global ice age was inevitable 20 years ago and had supposed scientific facts to back that one up as well.
